The region of Dersim lies in the Ostanatolien, to a certain extent of the today's Turkish republic and covers the cities of Tunceli and partial Bingöl, Sivas, Elazig, and Erzincan one.

The colonial powers - the Osmanische empire as well as the Turkish republic - could catch till 1937 in this region neither foot, nor penetrate there in appreciable way.

Dersim is a coloured mosaic of cultures. In the region Kurdish as well as Turkish is spoken beside the Zaza. There rules an old iranian faith which carries the tracks of Mazdaismus and Zarathustrismus up to the Christianity and Islam.

In Germany live according to estimates to 200 000 Dersimer/inside, on it up to 10 000 in Cologne and surroundings. Dersim municipality of Cologne inc. was founded for the purpose of the support of the culture, language and history of the Dersimer immigrants in Germany in May, 1995 and was recognised by the social committee of the city of Cologne as a foreign centre as well as from the tax office as a charitable association.

We are an open intercultural advice centre for immigrants from Cologne. Our activities serve the dialog and the cultural mediation between Dersimer immigrants and the German as well as other immigrants. Our consultation team speaks German, Zaza, Kurdish, Turkish and English.
